(Happy New Year everyone, long time no See!)
Hi everyone,
My son has a big "national" level soccer tournament in Los Vegas at the end of March. Being from the east cost (I'm from Syracuse area, my wife from the Phili area) and never having been out to an area like Los Vegas, I'm thinking I'd love to take a few extra days and do some sight seeing.
Because of the soccer conditions, I don't think we'll be able to do anything until after his last game about mid-Sunday morning. What I was thinking is that if we did a quick tour of the 'stip' on Sunday afternoon, we'd have a couple of extra days to possible rent a 4x4 (choice of course would be obvious if possible) and then I'd absolutely love to go and visit a nearby canyon, or possible drive through the desert and go to an abandoned ghost town. Then maybe go and visit the Grand Canyon.
At any rate, it would be so different from muddy trails and tree lined routes that we've it in the MI area.
So, I'd welcome someone who's done something like that, and some advice on what and were we could rent. Ultimately, if there is anyone we could hook up that anyone from here would know that would be willing to go out with us for a day that would be the ultimate experience!
So where would we go and what would we see? I'd welcome some ideas.
Thanks! |

Kevin, I told your story to a real good friend of mine who lives out there
Here's a place he pointed me too, it sounds PERFECT for you!
Here's the contact info: Fantasy tours 953 E. Sahara Ave. Suite B17, (702) 893-3977
It's a group that set's up exciting events and things to do. He said It's best to just drive to location and ask for "Bart" he's the group leader and the guys loves taking the back road. He said around $ 60.00 and your having some fun, if "Bart" hooks you up with an out of town package your for sure to leave with a big smile and memories!
Best of luck out the and keep it safe!
Regards,
Don |

I'd start by not P!$$!NG off the locals by mispelling their city's name (twice)!
That guy Don is talking about really takes the "Rover "Lifestyle" to a new level. Remember "What happens in (Las) Vegas stays in (Las) Vegas!!!!!
P.S. Make sure your brakes are in good working order, I'd hate for you to miss the trip!

Hey, Don,
I didn't see your note until after I got back. Wouldn't have mattered though, we never had time in Las Vegas to do anything outside of soccer. Jarrett played well enough, but the whole team was pushed out of their game on Saturday so they didn't do as well as we would have liked.
Vegas was wild. If you've never been, between "Ceasar's Palace" and "NY, NY" those two hotels alone probably have as many beds as every hotel in MI put together, and probably serve as many meals as the rest of the MI. It's mind blowing the size. And they're just two out of about 20 that are almost just as large.
We ended up in the Grand Canyon and in Sedona. What a beautiful area, and we did end up doing the "Pink Jeep" tour; it was actually very good.
The Jeeps were interesting, most expensive of their modifications were in the body work to extend out the back with an additional seat and a unique roll cage - sun screen combo. But there was plenty of suspension and chassis work to relocate the springs and all custom control arms. They run the newer Goodyear asymmetrical MT's with Kevlar. When they're done, they send them to Goodyear for analysis. But no lockers needed (unless they were running some limited slips); our driver was a retired school teacher, so not being too mechanically minded, he probably didn't really know a lot of the details.
Just a beautiful area. We did drive route 66, and even ate at the "Road Kill Cafe." How cool is that? |
